Singapore Airlines (SIA) has announced plans to upgrade its fleet of 777 aircraft with Astronautics’ Block Point 4 (BP4) Electronic Flight Bag (EFB).

In a statement released on Tuesday (January 5), SIA said upgrading to the newer EFB will enable the storage of more information including detailed charts, maps, documents and databases which will allow operators to enhance aircraft performance and improve operational efficiency.

Larry Levine, vice-president, business development, airlines and OEMs, said: “The enhancements made to the BP4 EFB have provided a significant improvement to the mean time between failures making it one of the most reliable avionics systems fielded today, reducing total operating costs by over 50 per cent for an airline.”
