SIA Engineering (SIAEC) has announced the formation of a joint venture (JV) with Airbus which will offer airframe maintenance, cabin upgrade and modification services for A380, A350 and A330 aircraft.

SIAEC said the Singapore-based JV, which is subject to regulatory approval, will mark its first agreement with an aircraft OEM for airframe maintenance.

Airbus plans to develop the JV as a centre of excellence for A380 and A350 heavy maintenance in Asia, in a move aimed at strengthening SIAEC’s airframe service offerings in Singapore and the Philippines.

Fabrice Bregier, Airbus CEO, said: “Setting up a world class facility in this region through our joint venture with SIAEC reflects Airbus’ strategy to develop a full range of support services for operators of our aircraft near to their home bases.”
