SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines have both signed 10-year extensions to their heavy maintenance contracts with Bombardier’s services division, covering their fleets of CRJ aircraft.

The SkyWest Group carriers operate a fleet of 433 of the aircraft combined, including 234 CRJ200s, 135 CRJ700s and 64 CRJ900s for Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, American Airlines and Alaska Airlines.

Under the terms of the agreements, the maintenance work can be carried out at any of the Canadian OEM’s facilities in the US, including sites in Tucson, West Virginia and Macon.

Todd Young, vice-president and general manager of customer services at Bombardier Commercial Aircraft, said the firm now provides maintenance for around 90 per cent of CRJ aircraft operating in the US.
