Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has posted an EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes) of €454m ($511m), marking a 20 per cent year-on-year increase described by the firm’s Chairman as “a strong result”.

Johannes Bussmann said LHT used 2015 to position itself strongly internationally as well as in regional markets, with the Hamburg-headquartered MRO’s revenues also growing by 17.6 per cent last year to €5.1bn ($5.7bn).

LHT saw business outside of the group grow by 21.8 per cent to €3.3bn ($3.7bn) while revenue from its internal companies rose €1.8bn (€1.5bn) year-on-year which it attributed to Lufthansa’s fleet modification programme.

However, Constanze Hufenbecher, chief financial officer at LHT, said it would be “a challenge to continue delivering such results” in 2016 after admitting that the firm had benefited from “effects which were out of our control” including the stronger US dollar rate.
