747 Output Ccut Again

Boeing has confirmed it will further reduce production of the 747-8 to just one aircraft per month from March 2016.

Boeing has confirmed it will further reduce production of the 747-8 to just one aircraft per month from March 2016.

Boeing has reduced the 747’s production rate four times in the past two years as a result of the sluggish cargo market.

The OEM is currently producing the aircraft at a rate of 1.5 a month and recently announced plans to reduce the rate to 1.3 a month from September.

Bruce Dickinson, the 747 programme’s general manager, said in a statement on Wednesday (June 24): “We are optimistic that we have things in balance now and the cargo market is swinging back quite strongly.”
