787-9 Certified By FAA & EASA

Boeing’s 787-9 Dreamliner has been certified for commercial service in the US and EU. The FAA and EASA have awarded an amended type certificate for the 787-9, after Boeing completed more than 1,500 hours of flight, ground and laboratory tests. The new 787 has a fuselage that’s 6m longer than the 787-8 model and will be able to carry up to 40 more passengers an additional 555km, while maintaining its 20% fuel efficiency rate, says Boeing. The airframer has received 413 orders for the 787-9, accounting for 40 per cent of all the 787 order book. Air New Zealand, which has ordered 10 of the craft, will take delivery of the first 787-9s when they are completed
