Airbus has confirmed that one of its fleet of A350 test craft has successfully completed a “maximum energy rejected take-off” test.

The test, which is required for certification, sees the aircraft abort take off at high-speed and weight using a set of worn-out brakes.

The test was completed at Istres Air Force Base in France over the weekend, and marks the A350’s last major test before a cabin-equipped development aircraft embarks on “route-proving” programme later this month.

The OEM says the aircraft is on track to achieve certification in Q3 this year and Qatar Airways will receive the launch aircraft before the end of 2014.
