A4A Calls For US Airline Policy

Airlines for America (A4A) has echoed the thoughts of the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) (as reported in yesterday’s Talking Point) that huge aircraft orders from Middle Eastern carriers at the Dubai Airshow should serve as a “wake-up call” for the US government to implement a national airline policy. A4A said the “supportive environment” some state-owned foreign competitors have is in “direct contrast to the way the US government treats its own carriers”. A4A said national airline policy should “normalise the tax and regulatory environment to be more in line with other industries and enable the US airline industry to grow and prosper – recognising it as the economic engine that drives five per cent of GDP and 10 million US jobs”.
