Airbus has confirmed it received 229 aircraft orders between January and April, reduced to 209 after cancellations.

The orders put Airbus ahead of rival Boeing, which has won a net 128 aircraft orders since the start of the year.

Airbus’ orderbook was further boosted this week when Columbian carrier Avianca finalised a $10bn order for 100 A320neo family aircraft.

However, Boeing remains ahead on deliveries for the year, with 250 aircraft delivered in the first four months of 2015, compared with Airbus’ total of 196.
