Airbus Wins $75bn Of Orders In ‘Best’ FIA

This year’s Farnborough Airshow was “the best ever” for Airbus, according to CEO Fabrice Bregier. The firm’s new launch, the A330neo, took 121 orders during FIA, following just two weeks of marketing for the re-engined aircraft, said Airbus COO John Leahy.

Total commitments made at the show include MOUs for 138 aircraft worth $36.9bn and firm orders for 358 aircraft worth $38.4bn.

The most notable orders were AirAsia's deal for 50 A330neos worth $13.8bn and lessor SMBC’s “megaorder” for 115 A320neo aircraft, the biggest ever order from a lessor for single-aisle aircraft.

Final tallies for Boeing's orders during the show are not yet available, but the OEM has confirmed that total orders for the year so far have reached 783.
