Nacelle manufacturer Aircelle (a Safran company) has signed a contract to supply titanium exhaust systems for the Airbus’ new widebody the 777X.

The exhaust systems will equip the 777X’s two GE9X turbofan engines and include “acoustically-treated areas” to reduce noise levels.

Boeing said the exhausts will cut weight and increase resistance to heat. Production of the 777X is scheduled to begin in 2017 with delivery targeted for 2020.
