Metals manufacturer Alcoa has completed its $2.8bn acquisition of UK components supplier Firth Rixson.

Metals manufacturer Alcoa has completed its $2.8bn acquisition of UK components supplier Firth Rixson.

The deal, first announced in June, is expected to double the amount of revenue Alcoa generates from its aircraft engine programmes, with the majority of new sales set to come from the commercial aerospace sector.

Alcoa said the businesses of Sheffield-based Firth Rixson will be integrated into its engineered products and solutions division.

In September, Alcoa signed its largest ever supply deal with Boeing, worth $1bn
