Alcoa Buys Titanium Supplier

Metals manufacturer Alcoa has bought RTI International, which specialises in supplying titanium parts for the aerospace sector, in a stock-for-stock transaction valued at $1.5bn.

Metals manufacturer Alcoa has bought RTI International, which specialises in supplying titanium parts for the aerospace sector, in a stock-for-stock transaction valued at $1.5bn.

Alcoa says that the acquisition will expand its additive manufacturing capabilities, to include production of titanium, specialty metals and plastic parts for the aerospace market.

Alcoa predicts that next generation aircraft programmes will see spending on titanium aerospace products grow by five per cent each year over the next five years.
