Metals manufacturer Alcoa has signed a $1bn contract to supply Airbus with its fastening systems for assembling aircraft.

Metals manufacturer Alcoa has signed a $1bn contract to supply Airbus with its fastening systems for assembling aircraft.

Alcoa said the deal signed on Monday (October 5) is its largest ever with the aircraft maker and the fasteners will be used in the assembly of panels and engine pylons on the A320neo, the A330 and the A350.

Airbus said the majority of the work would be carried out at a facility in California, with the remainder completed across 14 Alcoa sites across the world.
