Turboprop manufacturer ATR has opened its first representative office in Beijing aimed at increasing its footprint in China.

Turboprop manufacturer ATR has opened its first representative office in Beijing aimed at increasing its footprint in China.

The Toulouse-based OEM said the new office is located at Tianzhu Airport and will enable it to further develop and strengthen its relationships with its Chinese partners, potential customers and Chinese authorities.

“As China boosts short-distance regional air transport among small and medium-sized cities, fuel-efficient turboprops are being recognised as the perfect solution to China’s dispersed yet large population,” said Tom Anderson, senior vice-president commercial and customer support for ATR.

“With low running and maintenance costs, high usage rates and small-airfield landing capability, the new generation ATRs are ideally suited to the Chinese short-haul flight market.”
