Aviation Equipment Holding Launches APU-120 At Farnborough

Russia’s Aviation Equipment Holding has launched a gearless Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) at Farnborough. The APU is to be used in the MS-21, IL-76MD and IL-90A and is the first Russian unit to be produced without a gearbox. This development reduces the unit’s weight by 30% compared to previous models. The unit is capable of operating at 40,000-60,000 rotations per minute, and features a digital engine control system.
