Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has signed a contract with Boeing to manufacture composite empennage tips for 777 aircraft from 2017.

The contract will see AVIC subsidiary Shenyang Commercial Aircraft Corporation (SACC) build tips for the 777 vertical fin and horizontal stabilizer at its new facility near the airport in Shenyang, China.

It builds on the contract Boeing signed with China’s largest state-owned aviation company earlier this year to produce vertical fin and horizontal stabilizer forward torque box panels.

Boeing and AVIC have also confirmed they will establish a manufacturing innovation centre within the SACC facility to enhance the manufacturing and technological capabilities of SACC employees.
