Boeing has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Embraer to use one of its aircraft as part of its ecoDemonstrator programme.

Starting in 2016, Boeing will test new technologies on the Brazilian OEM’s aircraft aimed at reducing fuel use, carbon emissions and noise.

The MoU expands on an existing partnership between the two manufacturers announced in 2012 based on the creation of value for both companies and their customers.

As part of the ecoDemonstrator programme, launched in 2011, Boeing has carried out tests of more than 50 technologies on a 737, 757 and 787 aircraft.
