Swedish firm Braathens Aviation has ordered an additional four ATR 72-600 aircraft to be operated by its subsidiary airline Braathens Regional.

The deal is a conversion into firm orders of four options from a previous contract signed at this year’s Paris Air Show.

Braathens Aviation said it will introduce the ATR 72-600s into its fleet until the end of 2016 to partially replace its ageing Saab 2000s aircraft as well as older ATR 72-500s.

Per Braathen, chairman of Braathens Aviation, said: “We are particularly pleased to bring into our fleet an aircraft which is reputed worldwide by its fuel-efficiency, environmental friendliness and ability to operate at small airports.”
