China Aviation Supplies (CAS) has placed an order for 45 A330 family aircraft, with an option for an additional 30.

The deal was signed on Tuesday (June 30) at a ceremony in Paris attended by Airbus, CAS and the prime ministers of China and France.

Airbus CEO Fabrice Brégier described China as “the most important market for aviation in the world” and said the deal is a sign of confidence in the A330, currently China’s most popular widebody aircraft.

Earlier this week, Airbus also confirmed plans to ramp up production of the A330 in China with the opening of a new facility next year.
