Chinese Firm To Buy 100 Sukhoi Aircraft

O-Bay Aircraft has signed a $3.5bn deal with Russia's Sukhoi Civil Aircraft to buy 100 SSJ-100 regional aircraft. According to reports, the privately owned Chinese general aviation firm signed an agreement with Sukhoi on Saturday. As part of the agreement, the Russian manufacturer will jointly establish an assembly line and delivery centre for SSJ-100 aircraft with O-Bay in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province. The delivery centre in China is expected to work from 2016, while the assembly line is set to be completed in 2018. Two other companies, including a consulting firm and a trading company focused on aviation, also signed the agreement to promote the regional jet programme. Sukhoi says it will be increasing its production rate from this year’s 43, to 50 aircraft in 2015, and 60 in 2016.
