Chromalloy has broken ground on a new facility in Guaymas, Mexico which will see the number of engine components it manufactures in the country double.

The new 3,345m² plant is around twice the size of the facility it will replace, enabling it to treble its workforce, and will see new machining equipment installed.

The manufacturing centre is set to be completed in Q3 2015 and start producing parts in early 2016.

Chromalloy predicts the facility will produce 68,000 parts for gas turbine engines each year with components for next generation aircraft engines, such as CFM’s LEAP, forming a significant portion of that output.
