CSeries Suffers Engine Setback

Trials of Bombardier’s new CSeries have been interrupted by an engine incident during ground testing. Yesterday (June 1) Pratt & Whitney began teardown and failure analysis of the affected geared turbofan at its Connecticut factory, but little has been divulged yet about the seriousness or cause of the incident. Guy Hachey, Bombardier’s CEO, remains confident that the CSeries will meet its latest service entry deadline, although he also acknowledged that the incident could delay the aircraft programme again.
