Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has received a supplemental type certificate (STC) from EASA to install Ka-band antennas on A320 Family aircraft.

Becoming the first in Europe to gain the STC from the regulator, LHT is now able to install Inmarsat's Global Xpress Aviation ka-band antenna on A319, A320, and A321 aircraft types.

The MRO said it already carried out the first installation of the antennas earlier this month.

LHT will soon test the onboard system for functionality and stability, before making the Ka-band service available to Lufthansa passengers in October.
