Brazilian OEM Embraer has performed the first metal cut of the E2, the second generation of its E-Jet regional aircraft.

Carried out at its Évora plant in Portugal on Friday (October 17), the part is the wing stub forward pressure bulkhead of the first prototype of the E190-E2 jet which is scheduled for its first flight in 2016.

The aluminium structure will now be sent to Brazil for the first aircraft’s assembly.

The announcement follows Embraer confirming earlier this month that Spanish multinational company CT Engineering will provide engineering services for the EJets-2 at centres in Spain, Portugal and the UK.
