FAA Approval For APB 737NG Winglets

Aviation Partners Boeing (APB), a joint venture between Boeing and winglet specialists Aviation Partners, has received supplemental type certification from the FAA covering the installation of split scimitar winglets (SSWs) for three additional configurations of the 737-800. SSWs, which improve the aerodynamics of an aircraft and help to cut fuel consumption, can now be installed on all 737-800 and -900ER aircraft. APB launched its SSW programme early in 2013 and expects all remaining commercial variants of the 737NG to be certified by next May. APB says that to date it has taken orders and options for 1,657 SSW systems. “Our SSW programme is by far and away the most successful product launch in our history,” said Patrick LaMoria, EVP and CCO of APB.
