UTC Aerospace Systems has received approval from the FAA to import its four-person life raft, manufactured at its site in Bengaluru, India.

UTC Aerospace Systems has received approval from the FAA to import its four-person life raft, manufactured at its site in Bengaluru, India.

The company claims that its Bengaluru facility, which was originally set up in 1997 to provide MRO services on aircraft evacuation systems, is among the first in India to gain FAA approval to produce and export aviation products to aircraft manufacturers in the US.

Chris Rao, VP of UTC Aerospace Systems India, said: “This announcement further supports industry in India by focusing attention on the benefits of manufacturing in-country, and highlighting the success of the 'Make in India' initiative.”

The "Make in India" programme aims to turn India into a global manufacturing hub.
