FAA Orders Review Of 787

Following recent incidents, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will conduct a comprehensive review of the 787’s critical systems, including the design, manufacture and assembly. According to US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, the review will look at “the root causes” and will “safeguard against similar events in the future”. FAA administrator Michael Huerta said the checks will be conducted to confirm “that the aircraft meets our high safety standards”. Both FAA and Boeing personnel will conduct the review, focusing in particular on the aircraft’s electrical power and distribution system and examining how the electrical and mechanical systems interact with each other.
