GE Aviation Launches New Computing Platform

GE Aviation and GE Intelligent Platforms have unveiled a new series of computing platforms aimed at reducing time and cost for commercial aviation businesses. The new computers are turn-key, rugged, embedded systems with open architecture components and a standard digital avionics interface. Alan Caslavka, president of Avionics & Digital Systems for GE Aviation, said: “In new aircraft development programmes, we’ve seen over time that the cost to develop software has become increasingly prohibitive.  We needed to find a way to reduce development time and cost for our customers. With a versatile computing platform, we have reset the avionics cost curve for escalating development programs to be affordable for the next civil and military vehicle.”
