GKN Aerospace has signed long-term contracts with Boeing to supply titanium and aluminum machined parts and subassemblies for the 767, 777 and 787 aircraft along with a new package for the 777X variant.
Parts supplied will include 787 titanium wing fittings as well as the horizontal stabiliser spars and jack screw assembly, and drag struts for the 777 and 777X.
Work will be carried out at GKN’s advanced machined structures facilities in Amityville, NY and St. Louis, MO.
The renewed contracts extend GKN’s involvement with the programmes to a second decade, with the OEM being involved in manufacturing the parts for more than 10 years.
Mike Grunza, CEO, GKN Aerospace, Aerostructures – North America, said: “This new commitment, through these extended contract agreements, will allow us to plan ahead effectively, assuring continuity of supply and enabling us to implement process improvements and achieve cost reductions as aircraft production rates continue to ramp up.”
