First tier supplier GKN Aerospace has signed a deal with Pratt & Whitney to supply key components for the PW1900G in exchange for a seven per cent share in the engine programme.
The deal follows similar risk and revenue sharing agreements for other P&W geared turbofan engine programmes (PW1100G-JM, PW1500G and PW1200G) and could be worth $2.5bn in revenue for GKN.
Under the deal, the supplier is responsible for the design and manufacture of the turbine exhaust case and intermediate compressor case, as well as the fabrication of the low-pressure turbine shaft and fan case mount rings.
The components are to be manufactured at GKN’s plants in Sweden, Norway and Connecticut, US, with the first parts scheduled for delivery in early 2015.
The PW1900G will power Embraer 190 and 195 aircraft.
