Boeing has awarded GKN Aerospace a contract for final assembly and painting of advanced technology winglets for the 737 MAX.

The work will be carried out at a 5,300m2 GKN facility – opening in late 2015 – in Sumner, Washington, close to Boeing’s 737 MAX final assembly plant in Renton.

In support of the GKN’s facility, the Washington State Department of Commerce and governor Jay Inslee have approved an incentive agreement that will provide support for the firm including assistance with training employees.
