Iran has announced it has reached a multi-billion dollar agreement with Boeing to buy up to 100 aircraft, according to local media reports.

Abbas Akhondi, Iran’s minister for roads and urban development, told the country’s state-owned news media that details of the deal will emerge shortly.

A Reuters source said that once approved, flag carrier Iranair will buy the aircraft directly from Boeing and lessors.

Chicago-headquartered Boeing has yet to confirm any deal, but told The Guardian on Wednesday (June 15) that it has been in discussions with a number of Iranian carriers over acquiring its aircraft.
