The LEAP-1A-powered A320neo has been certified by the EASA and the FAA.
CFM’s new engine first flew on the airframe in May 2015, and has now accumulated 1,000 hours of flight testing.
Entry into service is planned for the middle of this year.
Meanwhile, flight tests of the LEAP-powered A321neo are ongoing, having started in February. Certification of that type plus the LEAP-powered A319neo is expected “in the coming months” according to Airbus.
The A320neo that uses Pratt & Whitney’s PW1100G engine was certified in November 2015.
