Liebherr Aerospace has been awarded a contract by Boeing to supply high-lift actuators for the 777X aircraft.

As well as designing, manufacturing and servicing the leading edge actuators, Liebherr will also produce the aircraft’s trailing edge actuators.

Boeing will oversee the design and development of the 777X’s trailing edge geared rotary actuators, but Liebherr will aid their development from its Seattle office and its Lindenberg facility.

In addition, Liebherr will provide the 777X iron wing test rigs and the mini rigs for secondary flight controls.

The new contract follows on from Liebherr earlier this year being awarded the contract for the 777X’s folding wing tip system and the power drive unit and hydraulic motor for the leading edge actuation system.
