Mitsubishi Aircraft has confirmed it will delay the first delivery of the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) by another year after it identified several unspecified issues that needed addressing on the aircraft.

The MRJ, which undertook its maiden test flight last November, had been scheduled for a Q2 2017 delivery to ANA Holdings, the parent company of Japan’s All Nippon Airways.

Mitsubishi Aircraft’s senior executive vice-president Nobuo Kishi told the media at its Nagoya headquarters that the company intends to strengthen the aircraft’s frame and upgrade its software in order to make it ready for the revised Q2 2018 delivery date.
