MRJ Completes Maiden Flight

Japan’s Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) completed its maiden flight at Nagoya Airport on Wednesday (November 11) morning.

Japan’s Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) completed its maiden flight at Nagoya Airport on Wednesday (November 11) morning.

The MRJ, the first Japanese built commercial aircraft in more than 50 years, successfully flew for around one hour, parent company Mitsubishi Aircraft confirmed.

The first MRJ is due for delivery to Japanese carrier ANA in 2017 with Mitsubishi Aircraft and project partner Mitsubishi Heavy Industries aiming to eventually sell more than 2,000 of the aircraft.

Currently, there are 223 orders for the MRJ from six customers with a further 184 models under option.
