PAL Opts For Trent XWB To Power A350s

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has signed an agreement with Rolls-Royce to buy its Trent XWB engines to power its fleet of six A350 aircraft

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has signed an agreement with Rolls-Royce to buy its Trent XWB engines to power its fleet of six A350 aircraft.

The deal, which also includes a long-term TotalCare service agreement, follows the flag carrier committing to six of the Airbus widebody at the Singapore Airshow with an option for a further six of the aircraft.

The new contract adds to an existing agreement the airline has in place with Rolls-Royce for 15 Trent 700-powered A330 aircraft covered by TotalCare support.

Jaime Bautista, president and chief operating officer of PAL, said the engine order puts it “at the forefront of technology” and the carrier will look to further develop its working relationship with Rolls-Royce.
