Pratt & Whitney has carried out testing on aircraft engine oils for use on its PurePower engine family.

In a statement released on Monday (February 29), the company said it had completed qualification testing of ExxonMobil’s Mobil JET Oil II and Oil 387, and NYCO’s Turbonycoil 600 synthetic oil for use in the PurePower engine.

The testing programme is part of contracts Pratt & Whitney has in place with ExxonMobil and NYCO, with the ExxonMobil agreement covering the PurePower engine powering the A320neo, Bombardier CSeries, Mitsubishi Regional Jet, Embraer E-Jets and the Irkut MC-21 aircraft.

The NYCO agreements cover testing for the A320neo and the MC-21.

Following the latest tests, the US engine OEM said it is on course to complete the oil testing programme across all PurePower engine platforms by Q4 2017.
