Rolls-Royce And Liebherr Name Gearbox JV

Rolls-Royce and Liebherr Aerospace have announced their new gearbox 50:50 joint venture (JV) will be called Aerospace Transmission Technologies.

Rolls-Royce and Liebherr Aerospace have announced their new gearbox 50:50 joint venture (JV) will be called Aerospace Transmission Technologies.

First announced in June, the JV will aim to develop manufacturing capability and capacity for the power gearbox on Rolls-Royce’s new UltraFan engine which is expected to enter service in 2025.

Aerospace Transmission Technologies will be located in Friedrichshafen, Germany and has also began building an €80m ($90m) test centre at its Dahlewitz site which it expects it be operational in late 2016.
