Rolls-Royce Assembles Latest Trent XWB

Rolls-Royce has started to assemble the latest Trent XWB engine variant. The engine, which delivers 97,000lbs thrust, has been designated the XWB-97 and will power the A350-1000. Initial versions of the XWB powerplant provided 84,000lbs thrust and were used to power the A350-900. The XWB-97 develops higher thrust through new high-temperature turbine technology, a larger core and a higher-flow fan. XWB-97 will have an initial run later this year and a first flight is slated for late 2016 before the engine enters service in 2017
