Rolls Royce will develop engine technologies at Dahlewitz, Germany. Earlier this year ground was broken on a new test-bed for power gearboxes to support next generation engine designs. Research at the site will create technologies to deliver lower weight, lower cost and lower fuel consumption for engines. Dahlewitz is to act as a global centre of competence for power gearbox capability, and will perform research and technology development for power gearboxes and related components. Rolls-Royce is to recruit 200 specialist engineers to support the facility over the next 18 months.
