The aerostructures division of Saab has signed an agreement with Airbus to develop a new over wing door for the A321 aircraft.

The project is the second Airbus Cabin Flex (ACF) programme Saab has signed up for and it will design, develop and manufacture the over wing door while also being responsible for the development and procurement of manufacturing tools.

The work will be split across different locations in India, with part of the development to be completed by the Saab and Mahindra partnership in Hyderabad, while some over wing assembly will be carried out by Aerostructures Assemblies India, Saab’s joint venture with Aequs in Belgaum.

The Sweden-headquartered OEM said that the new contract strengthens its position in the commercial aviation industry.
