Battery manufacturer Saft has launched a new training course for aircraft technicians working with on-board lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery systems.

Saft said the courses, which run for two days, will share best practice and provide engineers with the skills needed to ensure the optimum performance, reliability and long life of li-ion batteries.

Saft said the first courses will begin this summer and attendees will include technicians from airlines taking delivery of A350 aircraft, which from 2016 will be fitted with four Saft Li-ion batteries.

The training will be carried out at Aerocampus Aquitaine, the maintenance training centre near Bordeaux, France.
