US-based materials supplier SEKISUI SPI has launched a new thermoplastic for use in building components for aircraft interiors, such as seat tray tables, bulkhead laminates and passenger service units.

KYDEX 4545 has been developed to have a long processing window and to be easy to shape, which according to the manufacturer, makes it “ideal” for forming parts made from multiple materials.

The plastic exceeds FAA requirements on heat release and smoke density, and is available in a wide range of custom colours and textures.
