US-based Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Turkish ministry of transport to create the country’s first regional aircraft as part of its regional aircraft project.

Two new aircraft will be created and will be based around a modernised version of the Dornier D328 aircraft, which SNC’s recently acquired German subsidiary 328 holds all intellectual property rights for.

Fatih Ozmen, SNC’s CEO, said the TRJ328 and T328 turboprop aircraft will serve the need for new 30-seat regional aircraft. Delivery of the first aircraft is expected in 2018.
