Spirit Expands in Wichita to Meet New MAX Rate

Spirit AeroSystems has expanded its Wichita facility to support increased production of 737 MAX thrust reversers.

<p>Spirit AeroSystems has expanded its Wichita facility to support increased production of 737 MAX thrust reversers. At 45,000sq-ft, the expansion will help deliver 94 thrust reversers per month to meet Boeing’s planned ramp-up from 42 to 47 narrowbodies per month in 2017.<p>Spirit has now delivered the first 737 MAX thrust reverser with composite inner wall to the flight test program.<p>From Wichita, Spirit also produces the 737 MAX fuselage, pylon and engine nacelle, while its Tulsa factory supplies the wing leading edge.</p>
