Iceland’s WOW air will implement Swiss-AS’ AMOS software across its maintenance operation.
The low-cost airline will run the Operation Services variant of the software, which covers application and data server administration, concurrently with a SQLPostgre open-source database platform.
Swiss-AS confirmed on Nov. 27 that its project team are conducting tests to run the AMOS system on Amazon’s cloud platform.
As requested by WOW, Swiss-AS said all software will be bundled in a centralized data warehouse.
Ronald Schaeuffele, CEO of Swiss-AS, said the company has strategically targeted the growth of its footprint with low-cost carriers in the mould of WOW air. “This latest deal reflects once more that AMOS has a strong footprint among the LCCs,” he said. “AMOS will surely play a significant role in WOW air’s growth plans for the next years.”
WOW currently runs an all-Airbus fleet of 17 aircraft, comprised of A320s, A321s and A330s. By the end of 2018, WOW air will expand its size to 24 aircraft.
