First A330-300P2F To Serve DHL's Asia-Pacific Market

Second of eight firm orders slated for early 2018 delivery.

Freighter-conversion specialist Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) has delivered the first Airbus A330-300 Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) to launch customer DHL Express and expects to had over the second of eight firm orders in early 2018.

DHL Express SVP, Global Air Fleet Management says the first aircraft will be used in its Asia-Pacific network, "bringing added capacity and increased efficiency to a market where we are seeing dynamic express volume growth.” The express carrier also has 10 options.

Launched in 2012, the A330P2F program is a joint effort of Airbus, ST Aerospace and their joint venture, EFW. ST Aerospace leads the technical and engineering arms, including all certification application. Airbus provides OEM data. EFW heads up conversion-production and marketing.

The A330P2F program includes a -200 model, with EgyptAir Cargo as the launch customer. The first aircraft is being converted.

EFW also has launched an A320/A320P2F program and is confident that it will land its first customer in time to begin conversions in 2018.
