On Jan. 27, DolphiTech, specializing in ultrasound cameras for 2-D and 3-D inspection for composite materials in many industries, announced the release of a new nondestructive testing (NDT) and inspection system code-named DolphiCam2.
The product, launching in October 2017, includes transducers over a wide frequency range, features for robotics integration, general network connectivity and remote expert inspections (Remote NDT).
DolphiTech CEO Jan Olav Endrerud says, “In addition to transducers for carbon fiber laminates, we will prioritize solutions for thin metal inspections—including adhesive joint inspections—in the aerospace and automotive segments. We also want to bring a transducer for glass fiber [reinforced plastics] inspections to the market very soon.”
The cost was not released, but Endrerud says that the new platform will be competitive with the existing DolphiCam, which is priced at $20,000.
Current aviation customers of DolphiTech’s products include Boeing, Airbus, Cessna, Textron, and more recently United Airlines.
